My baby is 2!!!

Yes, it's true...my baby turned 2 last week on the 18th! I simply cannot believe he is 2 years old already. Seems like we just brought him home from the hospital. Where have the last 2 years gone? So a little update on my little boy....
Carson contines to challenge me everyday but he is a great napper most days so thank God for this. Don't know what I will do when he decides he's done napping! Carson still isn't talking much but he seems to get his point across for the most part. He is very physical and very loud! He loves to run his trucks, as well as Gabby's Volkswagon Beetle Barbie car around the house and if he sees my ankles, it's all over. He does his best to ram whatever it is he's driving right into me, just to get a reaction. He loves to pick on his sister which is really something new he's just started. If Gabby is laying on the floor watching t.v., he will run up to her and lay on her, wrapping his arms and legs around her so she can't get up and then just grins while she screams for help. Gabby is going to need to quickly learn how to defend herself with him or she's gonna be in trouble.
One nice thing about Carson right now is that he LOVES to watch t.v. His favorite shows right now are "Wow, Wow, Wubzy," "Dora The Explorer," and "Wonder Pets." This is nice because it's one way to get him to set still if I just need some peace throughout the day and it also allows Gabby and I to work on her homework or dinner!
As much as he wears me out, I love that little guy with all my heart and don't know what I'd do without him. He is always full of smiles and laughter and brings that to each of us everyday. I must say, both of my kids have their daddy's sense of humor!

High Anticipation, Huge Disappointment

So we all feed our kids the Kraft Mac and Cheese from time to time. C'mon...you know you do or you did when you had kids at home. Well, we recently were grocery shopping, yes, both kids and I! You're welcome, Brad!!! Anyway....Gabby asked if she could get a box of the old mac so of course, we threw it in the cart. Well, during our entire trip through the store, she could not contain her excitement because she had seen on t.v. that if you bought a box of mac and cheese, you could have a chance to win a trip to Sea World in Orlando. I even got the quote, "Mom, it said on t.v. that "thousands will win." I wanted to say to her, "Gabby, millions will enter!" But I didn't. I try to keep composure as I wanted to giggle at how excited she was. So we got home and immediately she wanted to go online and see when she could leave to go because, you know she already had it won! So after Carson was down for a nap, we got online and logged in her code. She sat right beside me the whole time, big smile on her face, shoulders about up around her ears because she just couldn't sit still.
When I told her that she didn't win, her little eyes welled up with tears and then about 15 seconds later, she was pissed and I use that word because she was not mad!!! She was beyond mad! I then had to hear about how the Mac and Cheese dinosauer was so stupid and how she was not listening to him anymore. Honestly, it was hysterical.
Moral of the story....don't listen to any orange dino that tells you about a chance to win a trip. Chances are, if it's too good to be true............IT PROBABLY IS!

Wow! It's been awhile!

I didn't realize how long it had been since I last posted. Time for an update!
The last few weeks have been an absolute whirlwind. Between Brad's insurance business really picking up and everything else that goes on here on an "average" day, Brad and I don't feel like we see each other a whole lot.....and yet we still live under the same roof!
Brad's days in LaGrange/Northeast Indiana have been getting longer as the business has been beckoning much more than we had anticipated for the first quarter of the year. After Christmas, we were both a little nervous as this is usually the slow time of year for most insurance agents, coupled with the fact that it was time for his salary to be cut (this is normal for his occupation) we didn't know what the year would bring and were trying to save money like a squirrel stocks nuts for the winter. Through all of this, I have once again seen how amazing God is and how he works and blesses us just when we're not sure what to do or think. It's like he has whispered to me, "Be still and know that I am God." I have been praying the "prayer of Jabez" for Brad for quite awhile now and God has answered it very clearly for us. He never ceases to amaze me! Even though I do miss him not being home until later in the evening, it excites me to see him so pumped up about his job. We are blessed to have to have him in a career that is needed by everyone and also to be so blessed to have such a great boss as Ron! Brad is happier at this job than he has been at any of the jobs he's taken since I've been with him and trust me....there's quite a few!!!!! I always had the faith that he would find his niche, it just took some time! Brad, I am so proud of you and the supporter of this family that you have become. Every time you've left one job to take another, it's been to better yourself for our family! I love you with all my heart!

The kids and I are keeping busy too. With what, you might ask??? Well, Carson will have his own update following this posting but Gabby is still loving preschool and is talking more and more about kindergarten in the fall. I sit in disbelief all the time that I will have a kindergartner in the fall but it's going to happen! The school she will attend is under construction and due to be finished by the time school starts. We have told her the name of the school is Eel River and that her mascot will be a river otter which she just thinks is great. Soccer will come to an end next Saturday. Brad and I have enjoyed watching her each week as she's has greatly sharpened her skills since the first day. Gabby has liked playing soccer but is also expressing interest in returning to ballet so I am in the process of trying to figure all of that out!

MOPS seems to be going well, considering we've only had 1 meeting since Christmas!!! With all of the awful weather we've been having, school has either been delayed or cancelled on the days of our meetings therefore, cancelling us out. It is my hope and prayer that the worst is behind us so we can finish the year on a strong note!

My cleaning business is going great! I still enjoy it and it has been a great outlet for me. It's also been good for Brad and the kids as this is his time to have some one on one with them and I feel it has strengthened their relationship with him so much!

Last week we were all sick! That was just great! Carson started with a cold which then got to Gabby in the form of a fever and congestion that lasted about 4 days and then Carson ended up with a double ear infection. Brad and I managed to only get a milder version of the congestion crap but nonetheless, we all felt cruddy for a few days and it's hard to be sick when you have kids to take care of! Thankfully, we are all doing better this week and hope to be done with illness for a long time!

I think that pretty much catches you up! Thanks for reading!

First Walk

The kids and I took our first walk of 2009 today. The weather was great, right around 60 and I even opened my windows for the majority of the day to let the breeze blow through. So a couple of thoughts I pondered on while we were walking today....
1. How long will it be until we get weather like this again?
2. Last year Carson had to ride in the stroller because his little legs just couldn't quite carry him and here he is today sticking right with us.
3. It's amazing that just 4 or 5 days ago we had around 6 inches of snow on the ground and then it was mostly gone within 24 hours.
4. How long did the pacifier that Gabby found in the yard today lay there? I remember losing it sometime late fall, early winter!
5. Last but not least....it's too bad that dog poop doesn't melt like the snow, it's EVERYWHERE!

I can't wait for spring to finally, officially arrive!
